What languages are taught at the School?

Dutch is considered the second language at the British School of Amsterdam and is taught from Reception to children who are competent English speakers.

English is considered the second language for those children for whom English is an additional language and is taught from Reception.

French is introduced as a third language to some pupils in Year Three and Latin is taught as an optional subject from Year Five. In key stage 3 and key stage 4 students have the opportunity to study two foreign languages and can select from Dutch, French, Spanish and German.

Mandarin and Japanese lessons are offered as extra curricular activities.
